![]() The only issue I have got with surround sound (I have Logitech Surround Sound System) is that in all current Linux Distros I get the 5.1 Suround sound but right front is churning out subwoofer and subwoofer front right - plus front left is centre speakers and centre is left think I'm still missing something. Use synaptic Package Manager to install the SoundBlaster emu10k files and all the apps starting with QAS: QasTools, QasConfig and QasMixer and all ALSA sound packages, plus 'apulse'. Unfortunately I now noticed that the unbind is not persistent on a reboot, neither is switching to 'off' in pavucontrol. The second needs to be unbound from its driver, in this case (using the port id): The card exposes the GPU and the HDMI soundcard. The following does unbind the driver correctly: echo '0000:01:00.1' | sudo tee /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:01:00.1/driver/unbind Update: However, on a reboot this seems to reset to (null). So since that doesn't work, I'm trying: echo nvidia | sudo tee /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:01:00.1/driver_override Tee: '/sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:01:00.1/enable': Device or resource busy So I tried: echo 0 | sudo tee /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:01:00.1/enable So that didn't work: sudo echo 0 > /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:01:00.1/enableīash: /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:01:00.1/enable: Permission denied So trying that now, saving this post first, since the other page warned for a bluescreen. Meaning for me the code line would be: cat /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:01:00.1/enableĮcho 0 > /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:01:00.1/enable So trying to disable it using would have to be: dir /sys/bus/pci/devices/ So using lspci -v I got these important ones: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GP107 (rev a1) (prog-if 00 ) - This one needs to be on, since I don't have any onboard gpu.Ġ1:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation GP107GL High Definition Audio Controller (rev a1)Ġ3:00.0 Audio device: Creative Labs Sound Core3D (rev 01) Running sudo update-initramfs -u afterwards and rebooting didn't do anything. # You must run update-initramfs(8) to effect this change. # They will be loaded at boot time in the order below. # List of modules that you want to include in your initramfs. I seem to miss something, or I don't quite understand how it works. The only possible way I can see problems with that when you have two cards of the same type installed. If you have n sound cards, just add the n-1 ones you don not want to use as primary output to that file. Please do not forget the command update-initramfs -u after changing /etc/initramfs-tools/modules. This is now included into initramfs and loaded just before the kernel jumps to hdd reading. You have to make sure the one driver you use is loaded the latter, that means for my case adding into /etc/initramfs-tools/modules the name of the nvidia driver, simply nvidia (+nvidia_uvm but that does nothing with the sound) because I want the Creative to blast. Ive had enough of their PISS POOR product support. In my case it was the nvidia HDMI and the Creative Audigy. Obviously Ati/Amd dont give a ***** ! Well **** YOU ATI/AMD !!!!!! My LAN Rig consists of E8400, 4 gigs ram, HD3870X2, Toughpower 750w, Vista 64 SP1, Cats 8.11 - NO PROBLEMS WITH THIS SETUP ! My open air rig - Q6600, 4 gigs ram, HD3870, Win 7 beta, 700wPsu, Cats 8.12 win7 betas. ![]() Main rig specs - Q6600, 4 gig ram, 2 Palit 4870's in CF, Seasonic 700w, Vista 64 SP1, Cats 8.11. The usual atimkd bsod garbage.įor ****'s sake.my Win7 beta rig using the win7 cats are 100% more stable than the SHIT fight I have with my main rig and Crossfire. Im down to having to use 1 damn crossfire bridge as using 2 under 8.11 or 8.12 just gives me bsod. Using Catalyst drivers before 8.10 I had no problems. Ive spent hard earned money on 2 hd4870's. Im sick of the constant bsod everytime I boot my pc. After trying to be patient for ATI/AMD to sort this problem since the 8.12 came out, Ive come to the end of my tether.
